Default 8310 calendar sincing in one direction only

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new to this syncing business so I need simple answers. I just got my BB to sync mail and address book but the Outlook calendar will only sync from laptop to BB, not in the other direction. This is a simple home setup with no company network or anything. I have read all the forums but can't figure it out. BB 8310 and outlook 2003. Just downloaded the latest BB Desktop Manager 5.0.1 version.

Did you configure the sync in DM for 2 way?

Check options > advanced > default services, and make sure the default calendar is set to the same as the default messaging. Make sure the calendar is not set to Desktop or Facebook.

This is usually the problem when calendar will not sync at all. But if you have DM configured correctly and you are not seeing any error messages, I don't know what else to check.

They are both set to my default email.Calendar says (CICAL) and Messaging says (CMIME). Is that what it should say?

Look at the email address in both the CICAL and CMIME fields. The email address in the CICAL filed should be the same as the address in the CMIME fieled. If it isn't, then change it.

EDIT: Never mind. You said they are the same, didn't you.

Do you mind backing up and starting from scratch? Are you sure it is indeed a problem with sunc directions and not something else? What, exactly, clued you to the problem in the first place? What have you done to test?

I just started the sync process after owning the BB for about 6 months and I was worried that all the calendar events I was putting into my BB would be lost if the device ever went bad. When I look at my Outlook calendar after doing a Sync, the events in my BB calendar do not show up in the Outlook Calendar. However, events that I entered into the Outlook calendar appear in my BB after syncing. I had just downloaded the latest DM to try to set up the sync.

Not sure how to back up and start from scratch.

By starting from scratch, I mean going over it again.

It does sound like the sync is working, just only in one direction as you say.

Go back into sync settings and look again. Is the calendar sync direction indeed set to bidirectional? In other words, let's make sure you saved the settings.

bob, there's one more thing to try. Let's just confirm the sync setting is indeed, no doubt about it, bidirectional beforehand.

Ok. Try this.

First, back up the blackberry.

Then, open options > advanced > service book. Delete all the CICAL service books. If you have multiple BIS email accounts on the blackberry, you will have a CICAL service book for each.

After deleting the CICAL service books, close options and then do a hard reset. That is, with the power on, remove the battery for about 30 seconds.

You should not loose any data, and the service books should be pushed back to the device when you reboot. But your multiple calendars should be collapsed into the default CICAL calendar. Go ahead and confirm the service books are back, if you want.

After the above, do a sync again and see if it works.
