just bought my bb 8320. this is t-mobile/USA. right now, i am in thailand. i cannot use my own sim on this unit.all i get is a SOS signal. i tried using another sim(different network), i have the "edge" signal, but cannot use the web browser. i used my own sim on my friends bb. and it work (got the EDGE signal).

but their sim doesnt work on my BB. dont know what is the problem.

i checked if my BB is locked, typed MEPD and nertwork showed, disabled. so, i guess this phone is already unlocked.

also, i tried to manually searched for mobile nerwork, i am limited to only one network (TH GSM) here in thailand. my BB cannot search another network (my own sim)

I had a problem in Thailand with my 8320 that seemed to be due to humidity. It worked for nearly 2 weeks but then for a few days it started saying the sim was bad or not there. Didn't matter what sim - local or US. The sim worked just fine in another phone.

But once I got to Japan on the way back it worked for some minutes, then gave the error. By the time I got to California it worked just fine while taxiing to the gate and has ever since. Since I had done nothing to the phone, the only difference seems to have been the humidity. Planes are pretty dry environments so I think the 20+ hours dried it out.
