Default BB 8320 freezing up frequently

I've had my Rogers BB 8320 for about 6 months now and recently it has become very laggy and often freezes up while simply trying to read and reply to emails and text messages. It has gotten to the point where I'm needing to do 3+ battery pulls a day even as a fairly mild user.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I should be doing to fix this?

With it coming on progressively is there any chance that it has to do with the many texts and emails that are still on the device?

I'm not very Blackberry-literate but it appears that my software version is 4.5.0.81. Could this be an issue? I haven't looked at upgrading it in the past out of fear that I will screw something up.

How much free memory do you have? Do you a lot of apps running? Sounds like a memory problem.

First thing? Check the File Free at Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?

Now, leaving the device powered ON, remove the battery of your device, hold a minute, replace and reboot. What is the File Free now?

Thank you both. Sorry for missing that sticky! I have followed the instructions and gone from about 2.5 mb free to a bit over 10 mb. We'll see if that fixes it!

2.5MB is pretty low. That might have caused your device's performance issues.
