I have the BB 8330 for Sprint and i wanna unlock it to go to another carrier (not verizon) and i need to figure out how to unlock it. If anyone could help me out id greatly appreciate it.

You can't unlock a CDMA device.

The device is not compatible with GSM carriers and will only work on a CDMA network. Nor can it be unlocked, as Draven mentioned.

However, since you didn't state the carrier, we can't really offer any help.

Most CDMA carriers (Sprint and Verizon included) will only allow their devices on their network. For example, you cannot put a Sprint device on a Verizon network nor can you put a Verizon device on the Sprint network.

True. Some devices are "World Devices" which have a sim for overseas travel and such. These can be unlocked and used on GSM. I don't believe the 8330 is a world tho.

i am trying to unlock it to use with Metro PCS. I found someone who says he can do it but i thought id look around and ask some questions. This is my first Blackberry so i am just trying to figure it out. But any help would be so greatly appreciated.

You don't "unlock" it, it needs to be flashed to work on metro PCS

Is there anyway to flash it myself?

I am basically looking for the same info... How do I flash the 8330 for a different carrier? I have a verizon unit that I need to activate on the Cellular South network. The CellSouth store rep was glad to attempt the activation, so that is not a problem. We actually got the voice part working, however, it would not connect on the data side...

Suggestions?
