I am having two issues -

- I would like to see the whole day in the calendar on the device rather than have to scroll to see all my appointments. Is there any way to do this?

- Is there any way to see the task due date on the device?

Calendar: try using the Agenda View. You should be able to see all the appointments for the day and upcoming listed out.
