Default Can't send long messages

My blackberry curve 8330 won't let me send messages longer than 160 characters. I'm with telus and have the newest software. My friend has the same model as me, and she's able to send up to 960 characters at a time. Any suggestions?

You need an app called Beyond160.
A single SMS is 160. Some carriers only let 160 be displayed.
Others allow you to type as much as you want, and show that its 2 or 3 messages of 160 characters each.

It is a carrier issue, not a BB issue. SMS is just that - SHORT Message Service.
