Default Device wiped, no options to restore... what next?

Please Login to Remove!

Yesterday when syncing my Curve 8330, I received a notice saying an update was available so I clicked yes to update my device from OS .171 (or something like that) to the latest version which is .5 soemthing, however in the end all I had was a wiped device with all my options removed and no way to restore my contacts, calandar, and such. The applications remained, but all folders were gone and I have to relogin to everything.

I tried restoring my backup however while the restore ran, the results showed "0 of x entries restored" across the board for everything. I even tried pushing databases back one by one via the advanced control pannel, but that only turned up an error with a hex value.

I then downgraded and tried restoring my backups and I'm still having the same issues so I wanted to see how I can fix this. At the least I'd like to sync with my desktop again, however it would also be nice if I could restore my folders and application settings.

Thank you very much in advance.

So the device works and the OS was restored?

Have you done a battery pull? Resent service books?

Are you on BES or BIS?

I believe the OS was restored, if by that you mean running the wipe after the downgrade. I never actually lost all my apps however.

I didn't do a battery pull at all. My phone ran through the upgrade without any error messages and I didn't accidentlly disconnect either so I don't know why I'm having issues. Going back to the battery pull, for a reset, that hasn't been tried.

I forget the difference between BIS and BES, but I'm pretty sure I'm on BIS assuming BES is for corporate networks. Right now my phone is for personal use and only connects to Verizon and gets emails via Gmail and POP.

Just a quick update, I reinstalled the new update and then did a battery pull and the sync worked correctly so I have all my apps and most importantly my contacts/calander.

My only question though is whether there is a way to restore my application folder structure, because I had everything organized before, however since this update everything is all in the top menu.

I normally would go into the advanced tab and search for the right value, however since I just installed an OS update, I don't want to corrupt the new install by installing old code which doesn't belong.

Thanks again.
