Default Latest Update For Bb 8310

Please Login to Remove!

The update released on 1-19-2010 is supposed to be an update from v. 4.5.0.181. After several attempts to download and install the upgrade, however, my system indicates that my current version (4.5.0.181), is a more recent version than the download posted.
My download comes up as v. 5.0.1.32
What am I doing incorrectly?

tearob... i can't follow that.

You downloaded the file linked in the 8310 Latest OS sticky note, for 4.5.0.182

What do you mean by "My download comes up as v. 5.0.1.32"?

It should also be noted that my Control Panel says that I have v.4.5.0 for BB 8310 smartphone but the files in my RIM folder are V. 5.0.1.32

Which RIM folder are you looking in? And how are you checking the version?

The version of loader.exe has nothing to do with the version of BB Device Software.

Look in: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files"
to see what Device Software you have installed.

You double click on the loader.exe file.

Follow the instructions in the Sticky for the OS (where this conversation should be taking place). It works. I think you are trying to do something or looking for something that is not in the instructions.

Thanks a lot. Sorry about the infringement (due to ignorance on my part).

Sorry for derailing the discussion. I was only trying to help tearob verify that the "newly downloaded" device OS was installed on their PC.

I completely agree with JSanders. Follow the sticky instructions.
