Default Voice recording with 8330 Curve

I am looking at voice recorder for class lectures and am wondering if there is an app or device to allow my smartphone to handle this function. I have tried the voice recording feature and the range seems to be meant for dictation only.

Pretty sure it has to do with the mic on the BB, not an app.

Right so I'm wondering if there is a mic attachment for BB8330 Curve that would work as well as a voice recorder.
