Default Installing New Desktop Software in 8320

Please Login to Remove!

I purchased a reconditioned Blackberry Curve 8320. When I attempted to install the desktop software from the CD that came with the phone, I got an error message about halfway through the installation process. The error message said there was a file missing: files\exec\bbinstaller\Data1.cab.

I downloaded the following newer version of the desktop software --

8320M_PBr4.2.2_rel338_PL2.5.0.40_A4.2.2.184_RIM.ex e

I didn't get an error message this time, and I can see the file on my hard drive. Trouble is, I don't know how to get that software from my hard drive onto my phone.

Could some kind person please tell me how to do that?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forums.

Follow these steps:
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Welcome to BBF.

What do you mean by "desktop software"? Are you referring to Desktop Manager or are you trying to update the OS on the BB?

Ifit is the OS, please refer to the yellow sticky at the top of the 8300 section for the latest OS for the device and the instructions.

If it is Desktop Manager, follow the link: BlackBerry - BlackBerry Desktop Software - BlackBerry Software at BlackBerry.com

Thanks to Dubdub and js conyers for replying to my question. Unfortunately, while I was installing desktop manager, my router went missing just during the part where a screen message says not to disconnect the phone from the computer. As a result, my 8320 now shows a white screen containing an icon with a red circle and slash superimposed. What on earth do I do now?

Try reconnecting to DM and reload the OS.
