Well I finally moved into the current century from nextel. And so far I am pleased as punch about my 8300! I love the BB Maps with realtime GPS, e-mail, Facebook, and MP3 player, all for $60 a month? And the accessories that came with my phone makes the $249 I paid worth it and more!

But I have a few questions/problems.

How can I get the GPS BB map to show directions on the map? it shows the first line of directions but does not update as I move along the purple line?

And when I put my phone on silent in the top right hand corner (for meetings and such) it still rings! And when I go into the menu to put it on silent it still notifies me with a sound when I receive a text!

Is there a way to put it on vibrate/silent mode easily? My nextel had a volume button on the side I would just turn all the way down until it vibrated, then I knew I was safe in a meeting/class.

1. Google Maps - that's how it works. You need to manually press the "6" key to advance to the next direction.

2. Are you changing to the Silent Profile or are you merely pressing the Mute Key? Pressing the Mute key only mutes an alert that is currently sounding. It doesn't mute the whole device for the future. You need to change to a quiet profile for that functionality.

3. Depending up the OS version you have installed on the device, you might be able to press the "Q" key to switch to the Vibrate profile. If not, you should be able to press the "F" key to quickly access the Profiles list(if you have Dialing from the Home Screen turned off"). Then you can manually change the profile.


Also, if you are on Boost you most likely do not have the 8300. You probably have the 8300.

No. You are in the right forum. But you might want to update your forum profile with the correct device.

Sorry, I almost never use BBMaps anymore so I assumed you were talking about Google Maps. In BBMaps, you need to press 'N' to go to the next direction.
