Default How strange but need a solution

We have a BES server with over 250 users,. However I have added an new user - standard 8310 curve, tons of these already on the BES. When I go to assign our Crypto token to the device it is not appearing on the handset. I therefore checked the BES and the user is on but under "Blackberry device model" it is blank ,. Thus resulting in me not being able to assign software. I spoke to vodafone our carrier and they advised a hard reboot - to no avail. Searched the forums and RIM website but cannot find a solution. Any ideas?
