Morning,

Read quite a bit about BIS 3 lately, especially for gmail, but haven't seen anything yet on my Verizon BB. Has anyone heard or seen anything?

You already have it.
BIS 3 was rolled out a short while ago. It's not something you'll "see" on your BlackBerry.
It's an upgrade to RIM's backend infrastructure.

Penguin,

I know it was rolled out a month or so ago, but the upgrade on the backend is also an upgrade to the services on each individual's blackberry. In other words, changes made on my gmail on the computer should reflect on my BB, etc. That isn't happening. I'm wondering what, if anything needs to be done on my handheld, and if anyone else already has the new functionality.

New GMail features that you're referring to weren't included in the original BIS 3 upgrade.
They are only recently coming to fruition now (within the past few days.)
I don't believe it's fully rolled out and working 100% just yet.

Just give it some time.

Default BIS What is this?

Sorry just got my new blackberry last week. I found this forum and started reading about it. I see a lot of talk about BIS and see that it is on mine. But what exactly is it?

sorry for the stupid question but I am new with this. And so far I love it. I have the Curve 8350.

Thanks,

It is generally better to as a question in a new thread as it is considered bad manners to hijack (ask a different question) in another's thread.

Check out our FAQ. We have a section on BIS. BIS stands for Blackberry Internet Service. It is the personal (non corporate) connection to RIM for all BB related services, such as email, BBM, etc.
