I apologize if this information is already been posted on this forum but I do not believe the specific information I need is. I have exhausted all sources and myself trying to figure this out.

I purchased a blackberry off of ebay and it seems to have an IT policy in place. I am trying to set it back to the factory settings using desktop manager and I am unsuccessful. The reason I am unable to do it is because my computer is not recognizing the device.

I have tried multiple USB cords. They ALL allow the device to charge but will do not show up in the device manager of my Vista PC. In addition, my 8330 does not have a media card. I am not sure how relevant that is or is not.

My questions are:

Is there a way to remove the IT policy without connecting to my PC?

Is it possible the IT policy is preventing the connection?

Could it be the media card preventing the connection?

How likely is it the blackberry's hardware causing the connection failure (keep in mind the device is able to charge) ?


I appreciate any advice or suggestions anyone can lend.

That FAQ only gives me options if I can connect my blackberry to my PC... I am unable to connect it to desktop manager.

You dont use desktop manager to wipe the IT policy.

It still seems that I need to connect to my PC though. My PC doesn't recognize my device.

This is also true when your device is stuck in an LED reboot cycle, and a PC wont recognise it.
The program JL_Cmder can detect the phone when desktop manager can't.

You can also try a battery pull on the BB. Sometimes that will clear whatever s blocking DM from seeing the BB. Also, do not connect to the PC via a HUB. Plug directly into the PC, preferably to a rear USB port.
