Bought the device used a few days ago and it required a password to unlock. Went into settings to change this and a little red lock appears beside that and I am not able to disable the feature. Scrolled to the bottom of that screen and nothing was listed so I don't think its an IT lock, but I followed that other thread using JL Cmder only to wipe the device, turn it on and see that it again is asking for a password.

This is incredibly frustrating and any help would be awesome.

note that what I used JL and selected resettofactory a red screen popped up saying something about having to be OS 4.3. Will grab the screen again if it'll help. (Device is/was 4.5)

edit: Just d/led the update for 5.0, plugged in phone to do so and it said that there were no available updates so I don't know wth is going on. Everything else about it works though.

A few days ago i had to remove IT policy in order to make a software works. I'm pretty new here, but it may help you. I used a software call CrackUtil, it's really easy to use. Make sure to make a backup before, 'cause after removing it you'll have to restore everything. There are a few tutorials around, if I find the one i used i'll post it.

I think I got the update to work, the phone is rebooting but paused at about 60%. If I can get the update to work I can live with using a password for now

I really hope it work, however the little red lock was the same thing I saw on my mobile.

The device must be on OS 4.3 or higher in order for "resettofactory" to work to remove the IT Policy.

Once you have the new supported OS loaded, simply follow the instructions in the Remove IT Policy thread to remove the policy and then you can get rid of that restriction.

After you get the OS installed, here is a link to remove the policy. Use Method 1.

Be sure and make a backup first, as you will need to restore it when you're done. It's a fairly simple process.

i have an 8830 and i just put a new password now it just doesnt unlock
