Default HTC Swap to 8310

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All

Our company recently gave us all new HTC Touch phones - better than what we used to have but no replacement for the Blackberry I used in the company I used to work for.

I have managed to get a 8310 off ebay at a great price and am hoping that with the server settings that are on the HTC (server name, domain etc) that I will be able to get my BB working. I used the same server details before on a Nokia E71 and it all worked fine.

Although the sim cards are enabled for data our IT Guys are less than helpfull so I'd rather set it up without having to ask them for anything (and they probably wont help anyway as they say 'if its not NTC we don't support it)

It would be great to be able to get email and also replicate my diary - is this possible?

Thanks for all / any help.

Steve

To get email via Blackberr's push settings, you need a Blackberry data plan on the SIM card, which if company issued and they don't want you using a blackberry, they aren't going to let you get.

Hi thanks for the reply.

Our Sim Cards do have data enabled and the HTC does use push to get messages from the server - I did manage to get one of our IT guys to tell me that the HTCs work on the same data system as a BB.

A guy in the Vodafone shop told me it would be OK - I hope so 'cause I can't stand these HTCs anymore.

Reread post #2. This is not about the "data system".
It's about the data plan on your account.

Why the re-post?
HTC Swap to 8310

They may use the same data system i.e. 3G, but to use the native push email from RIM a Blackberry data plan is required.
This blackberry data plan allows for connection to RIM's servers, which is what the email push uses.
Without the blackberry data plan = no RIM server = no push email.

OK thanks

Is there such a thing as configuring it to 'dial in' to the server - this is what the E71 used to do (and I believe what the HTC does - although it is perminantly connected to the server)

Apologies for the repost

Nope. You must have the BB data plan activated on the account.

Sorry to keep going on - will I be able to achieve the result by using either Notifysync or Astrasync?
