Default Wireless carrier would not 'fix' my phone...???

Please Login to Remove!

Has this happened 2 anyone else?? I have a Blackberry Curve 8330.. While my phone was rebooting a call came through & some one (not me, of course) answered the call. When my reboot finished I had a blank screen & 'Error/reset'. So I tried that over & over with no result. I had to take it into my carrier. -My phone 'was' an Altell Blkbry. -My carrier now is Verizon (took over Alltel company/contracts). Instead of fixing my phone 'they' replaced it with another, but it's now Blkbry Verizon. I'm slowly getting my s:*t together.
**One major pain is that my Blkbry email address changed from alltel.blkbry to verizon.blkbry...I cannot access any of my old alltel.blkbry emails & when I try to edit/change email address from alltel to verison every site notifies me that an email explaining what to do to change email addresses was sent to the alltel address which I CANNOT get to because I no longer have that phone! GURRRR....

I have never ever seen an email address of alltel.blkbry or verizon.blkbry.

What is the email you're looking for that all these sites are sending you to your old email address?
What are you trying to do?

Sounds like OP is talking about the carrier-provided blakckberry.net email address.

For what it's worth, K, you can setup, edit the settings for, and delete the carrier-provided email address at the carrier's BIS web portal. See:

Where can I log into my BIS account? - BlackBerryFAQ

Or, do it from the blackberry . . .

How to add / delete email addresses - BlackBerryFAQ

And by the way, your situation is one reason to be very selective about when to use the carrier-provided blackberry.net address. You can add up to 10 addresses to BIS. Use your ISP address, google, yahoo, windows live, hotmail . . . . whatever.

I don't have a clue whether your alltel blackberry.net address is lost to you now forever or not, but regardless you cannot read email at a carrier-provided blackberry.net address except witht he blackberry.

Once you switch from an Alltel BlackBerry to a Verizon BlackBerry, your alltel.blacberry.net email address is gone immediately and forever.

I say this from personal experience.

As said above, the OP discovered two of the major reasons for NOT using the carrier supplied BB email address:

(1) when and if you change carriers, that email address is gone forever.

(2) you can only read and send email using that address on the BB. There is no webmail option.

Thank you all for the input. 1)The main reason I am even bothering to use a Bby email is that I don't have a pc. I have a yahoo mail set up from using my previous phone, which I added to this phone. If I didn't have that I would be even worse off. Yay! Small favors...
2)BIS? When chosing the carrier to log into which one would I use? AllTel or Verizon? 3)Having the Bby email wasn't my problem. My problem is with my carrier. Totally unhelpfull. I keep askin' myself 'Why couldn't they have just hooked my phone up to their system and get my phone running again to give me the opportunity to get my info before taking it away from me??

BIS has only the 2 emails I am currently using. The carrier/server (Verizon) I'm using now is not the carrier I need to check for my old email address. I talked to my carrier today and got an 800# to call-we'll see.

Kxxx8226;, just FYI, every post you make in the forums here, you make two. I have to delete a duplicate of each post you make. Perhaps you're pressing the post button twice, two quickly or something. No big deal, but be careful.
