Not sure if this should be here, After Market, or some other thread but it was suggested by another user in another thread for me to try Shrink-an-OS since I was considering moving up to v.5+ on my 8330 but after reading about it and looking at some screenshots, I'm not clear on one thing. It gives an option to remove some social networking apps like Facebook, etc. If I do that, what happens on a battery pull when all the service books are resent. Won't I get the Facebook icon back? If so, will this now be a dead link to no installed application? Just a bit unclear on how that would work if anyone knows.

No. The Facebook application must be installed to the device AND enabled by a service book. Not installing the application itself will save you 1-2mb of app memory.
You can't keep the FB service book from being pushed.

So the app won't be installed but the service book will be there? So if I click the 'F' icon it should do nothing if I had not installed the app?

If you uninstall Facebook, you probably won't even get the F icon, UNLESS Verizon's service book is one of the virtual preload deals, and it takes you to the browser page to install Facebook.

If you click on the 'f' icon it will take you through the installation routine. I put all the shortcuts that Verizon sends, but I don't want, in a folder called 'Verizon Stuff' and then hide the folder.

So if it's not installed, and that's just a shortcut to install, what is Shrink-an-OS removing when selecting Facebook as one of its options? I'm assuming it means it will remove it IF it was installed prior I guess.

It removes it from the java folder and it will not load when you run apploader. The 'f' icon will reappear as a shortcut when you resend the service books from your carrier. That's why you hide it so when it is resent, it will be hidden.
