Ok I have an 8310 which I unlocked and I put in a Tracfone (straight talk) prepaid SIM. But I get the red SOS where the network should be. I've searched and tried just about everything. Am I missing something or will it just not work? Thank you in advance

Sorry that I dont have an answer, but I would like to know how you unlocked the phone and put in a new sim card. I have a regular tracfone which i dislike, and I was looking at the Virgin Mobile Blackberry , but it is $250 which is over my budget by far. My friend has a 8300 T-Mobile Blackberry, which is dead. The battery died, he says. Do I need to buy a new blackberry battery and then can I put in the Tracfone sim card? Or do I need to unlock it and then I'll be able to put in the sim card. Also, does BBM work when you put in the new sim card? Thanks if you can answer since we have a similiar situation.
