HowTo Send Bank or Other Number over Phone? Bet this question has been asked many times. Phoning my bank for a balance, I'd like to press a key and send out my 16-digit bank card number. Anyone know a way? Thanks. ~Jay Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |

In your Address Book. Create an Entry for your Telephone Banking number. In the work field - enter the phone number and then make sure the cursor is at the end of the number, press menu, add pause (this will add short delay for automated keypresses) So, to this point, when you dial the contact, your BB dials the phone number and then waits for 3 seconds, then, where you go from there, totally depends on what the sequence of menu numbers you normally need to press to accomplish whatever it is you need to do - For example - you want your BB to dial the number, wait 6 seconds, press 1, 4, 6, and 2 (all with 3 second pauses) then 1234567890123456 (your banking number) and a 6 second pause (the system is so slooooow) and then your 4 digit pin. Here's what you put in the work number field 18001234567pp1p4p6p2pp1234567890123456pp1234 That's it. I recommend a piece of paper and a pen - call the number note how long it takes to pick up. The menu numbers and the delay time between presses that the system can handle, and write it all carefully. And do a trial run, payong attention to any misspresses (using a bluetooth headset or regular wired headset is helpful for catching any mistimings.) The other option in the menu is "add wait". It is a 2 second delay. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
Re: HowTo Send Bank or Other Number over Phone? Better to use the "Wait" function rather than the "Pause" function. The "Wait" will result in a prompt on the screen which will allow the number you have input to be sent when you press the trackball/trackpad. |
Re: HowTo Send Bank or Other Number over Phone? If you're going to do this I recommend 2 things: 1. Do not name the Address Book entry 'My bank number'. Call it 'Aunt Sally' or something not obvious. 2. Set a password on your device. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
Thanks both you for helping. Your info is detailed. I'll find a quiet time to carefully follow what you've suggested and post how it worked. As you wrote, I'll have to make note of the bank's menu prompts. Also, as suggested, I remain ~Aunt Gertrude Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile |
