Messages box and email duplication

Can somebody tell me why I am receiving duplicate emails in the "Messages" box and my newly created email box on an 8330? How do I turn off emails from being received in the Messages box?

You don't. On your phone, the Messages box is a "catch-all" box which collects messages from all accounts on your device.

Newer models offer the ability to turn that off.
