Default 8300 on AT&T......When????????? - 05-16-2007, 04:17 PM

I dont think RIM ever released a new model in europe before US or Canada.Whats going on here? The US carriers have not even announced a release date. Is it possible for AT&T to release it May 24th as per rumors without even acknowleging the model exists???

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I think I will buy it in EU, and unlock it.The cell carriers haven't realized we are in the 21st century yet.at&t is still run by cingular. They're creeping forward, but slowly.EU is not much better. However, new products seem to be 4-6 mos ahead.I thought RIM wld be mre loyal!!

As they say with investments -- "past performance may not be indicative of future results". The US isn't the only country with major GSM carriers that offer Blackberries.

Cingular (AT&T) is known for this guys! Remember how they released the Pearl? They just move at a snails pace when it comes to releasing new devices. They did this 2 weeks ago when releasing the Nokia N75, it's avaiable, it's not available! If you ask me, the Curve is probably 100% ready and in stock to be pushed out the door. For some reason there just not releasing them yet! Maybe o2 had a 30 day exclusive on the device, who knows! All I know is that I'm getting real impatient! At least give us a date already AT&T.

We got a shot for the 24th! Vodafone released there's today, and I checked there website last night and saw nothing about the Curve! Then Bang it's there today! So they gave no warning as well! And hey today is Friday, and the 24th falls on a Friday also. Maybe AT&T is looking for some big sales for the Memorial Day Weekend!!! I sure hope so!!!

Not to be too nit-picky, but the 24th is a Thursday actually. I just wish they'd hurry up and do it. Based on all the other info floating around we're probably just waiting on reps to be trained and then it's a done deal.

Oh, that's just what my husband is going to want next weekend. Saturday is our wedding anniversary.
"Happy Anniversary honey. I love you."
"Mmmmhmm. What were you saying? I was just dealing with a reported post (elsewhere, heh) and listening to music at the same time on my new toy, em, I mean BlackBerry."

Or on Sunday, at our in-law's house for the anniversary party for us and my brother and sister in law.
"Kris is that a new phone?"
"Oh, my, yes it is the latest and greatest newest BlackBerry. It is so awesome. I love it so much."
"Don't you say that about every new phone you get?"
"Shut up. Shouldn't there be some cake for you to eat or something?"

I am pretty sure I'll also sell my Pearl and get a Curve. I have to wonder, though, if they don't want to take any attention from the iPhone, and will not release the 8300 until after the iPhone is released. Since Stan Sigman recently said it's the largest launch in their history, I bet they wait until the fall to release the Curve.

Nahh, AT&T is just about the biggest Blackberry provider in the states! They know with both devices on the network they'll have the 2 hottest tickets this summer! Curve is probably droppin first without any marketing campaign, then the much hyped iphone will surface in the middle of June. Speculation points towards next week for the Curve, and June 15th for the overpriced iphone.

If ATT is smart, they release this phone before the iPhone.

Once the iPhone comes out, it will suck the oxygen out of the room. Would most people notice any new phone on ATT that comes out around the time of the iPhone or shortly thereafter? I don't think RIM would be too happy about that either.

Plus, I'm sure once the iPhone hits, ATT wants their resources directed at that device. There's no way that ATT puts out the iPhone, then soon thereafter shifts gears and starts training sales force and directing marketing towards another device.

Right now ATT has a clicking tock and that is the time until the iPhone launch. That is there window for releasing a new device like the Curve.

WHile the iPhone is going to be big, it is not going to do anything to Blackberry. I am sorry but the idea of typing on a virtual keyless keyboard does not appeal to me. I have a tablet PC that I use in the field and I would rather have a truantula crawl into my ear and lay eggs that use a virtual keyboard. The iPhone will be nice for your son or daughter to text giggle messages but I want a real keybard with a tactile feedback. I get and answer 40-60 emails a day and could not do business without my BB.

Wait - did I miss another memo - is the iPhone the next BlackBerry Killer? Oh man, I have to get on board. Where did I put my Motorola Q?

I would expect the iPhone to have an impact on Sidekick sales....

i'm no expert but its pretty obvious the iPhone and Blackberrys appeal to two commpletely different audiences. That is why i think AT&T is not to worried about launching them so close together. For me, the iPhone looks nice, I wont be getting one. I'm a functionality type person and the Curve fits closer to my needs then the iPhone will.

I feel the same as you guys when it comes to the iphone being dubbed a Blackberry Killer! No way will this thing bring any of us, or the million other people that use and luv there Berry away from Rim! However there are people that just luv new stuff and might want to play around with it because it's hot at the moment. Like Greg said I also have no desire to type on a virtual keyboard! But like NJ said sidekickers are going to be drawn to the concept! But AT&T and apple are gonna look for a big launch in June, with nothing else stealing any of the iphone's thunder. That's why we'll get our Curve next week! A two week window is plenty of time to launch the iphone without distractions from the mainstream! Plus AT&T already said that the iphone will not be pre-sold to anyone, first come first serve
for everyone. Like Sony with the playstation 3, they want panic and hype over it! I'll wait till all the hype dips down and all the bugs are worked out to even attempt to check one out, like Christmas time!

Let's seriously hope I'm wrong on this one. And I definitely don't mean to suggest that iPhone will take sales AWAY from BB...theyr'e two entirely different markets...but I wonder what AT&T's strategy is for timing the release of both devices.

which is what they need with Verizon Wireless having kicked their butts how many quarters? They need to do something to keep ahead.
I agree this will appeal more to the sidekick users, than the BB group.

To another comment above, I thought I read recently that Tmobile took the bulk of BB subscriptions in the US, therefore another reason why Cingular/AT&T needs this. Competition from both sides (Tmobile for BB subs, and VzW for total subs).

AT&T has the biggest line up of Smartphones out of any US carrier! And while I like verizon and still use them for my second line! By them bringing a full keyboard camera berry to the market before VZW even released the pearl says something. Not to make this a carrier debate, I just feel AT&T is light years ahead with there line up! And these two phone will seal up a lot of people! At the end of the day, we all just want the Curve, I know I do!!!

They had released the first colour BB (I think it was the 7230) in the UK (T-mobile) back in 2003 before the US. At this point, my only reason why they have not yet released this in the US is because of the 8800....

Just spoke with a rep. in brunswick NJ and he said that they will NOT be getting the curve, that att/cing didn't sign any paperwork and won't be taking the phone on!!!!!!!!!! I hope to goodness he had no clue what he was speaking about.

I'm getting a damned headache from all of this nonsense! I vote one of your members/mods here go work and dominate one of these stores! This way we can once and for all know what's what when it comes to speculation. hahaha

Guys, pls read the official RIM press release at:
http://www.rim.com/news/press/2007/p..._2007-05.shtml

There is no question the Curve is coming to the US through at&t; the question really is WHEN!!!!!??????? I want it as bad as all of you do....I just wish at&t would come forward and tell us when this darn thing will be available so we can all get one...

o2 and Vodafone released the Curve without any hype or big push, AT&T is going to do the same, as is Tmobile! Like many of the members on this forum have said, the reps usually know less then us! This coming week should shed some light on the exact release date!
Wuh sah Wuh sah!
