Default 8300 and XM Radio

Please Login to Remove!

BoyGenius took some pics a while back of his 8300 and showed some of its features. One feature was XM Radio loaded on the device. I haven't heard of any other phones from ATT having this feature yet. DO you think the Curve will have XM?

The XM radio is just an internet feature. It is like 9.99 a month and you get I believe 20 stations. It is just streaming audio.

It has been around for a few months now. I purchased a LG CU500 back in April for my fiancee and it had the xm branding on the box but it just turned out to be an online feature, nothing more.

Here is the info about it if you are interested. The stations that it offers are crap though.

actually I just looked at this page again after I posted it. It looks like they have added about 5 channels since I last saw the list. The ones they added are quite a bit better than the old ones.

The list is on that link that I posted. Not sure what you listen to. I personally like Ethel, Lucy, and flight 26 which have been added recently.

They have a decent mix of decades(70-90's), rock(ethel, lucy) popish(hitlist, 20 on 20) rap and country. No news or talk stations yet though.

the XM app is just that, an app. Web sites with streaming audio will not work unless they develop BB apps to steam

Yeah- streaming ANY internet radio on a phone? Priceless. Streaming only a few stations from XM for $9.99? Worthless.

This is one area I really hope Blackberry developers focus on this year. With a WM device, you can stream ANY internet radio. If you have a Slingbox and DirectTV (you get XM radio for free streaming on your TV with DirectTV), you can just open up Slingbox and stream the audio of the XM TV channels to your phone and listen to the entire XM line-up. FREE. But then again, it's WM. Pick your battle.

I think that AT&T own music service is going to be the real winner here!
