if I am not mistaken, you have to create an account through TeleNav to receive your info.

The AT&T rep didn't mention anything about it to me, but I tried the last four digits of my phone number and it worked.

Which (BlackBerry model) version of TeleNav are you using on your Curve?

To use TeleNav GPS Navigator, you have to have it setup as part of your plan. On the other hand, you should be able to use TeleNav Maps for free.

Default 8300 and GPS receiver??

I bought my first Blackberry yesterday and as hard as it was to hold out for the 8300, I made it!! So far I love it!!

I also bought the BT-359 GPS receiver to go with it due to traveling quite a bit for work and wanted the voice GPS to go with maps. I signed up for the 9.99 plan and thought I was ready to go...

Upon trying to set up the GPS receiver to work with phone, it told me the 8300 was not supported by telenav.

I called a rep and he said that, at this time, I cannot use the GPS receiver with the 8300 b/c that particular phone has not yet been certified and he could not guarantee me that it would be in the future.

Does anyone have any advice for me?

Should I cancel the 9.99 plan and take the receiver back or just keeping holding on just like I did waiting for curve to be unveiled?!?!

Thanks for your help... and thanks for all of the posts on this forum.... AMAZING!!

I downloaded TeleNav gps navigator on the 8300. I just selected the build for the 8800. It downloaded and installed fine and launches fine. Did you get that far?

Even if it is not supported just yet, I am sure TeleNav will add it very soon. They had the 8800 added very soon after it released. I would be picking up a GPS receiver today too, love TeleNav, it hasnt let me down yet. $10 is a bargain for fairly reliable navigation with traffic.

Hold on to the receiver.

I did get that far. I was going to choose 8800 but was afraid it may mess something up with this being my first blackberry adventure!

Thanks for the info. I will definately hold on to it!!

Default Still not working....

Well, I fired everything up after downloading software for 8800 and it wouldn't work. I went into preferences for software and changed the source for GPS from internal to bluetooth, but it won't let me change the actual device from another GPS to the one I have. May have to wait on the correct software that's designed for the 8300 after all.

Like another poster said earlier, it's hard to get upset when you know going into it that it says it's not yet certified to do that.... of course, the sales rep at Att didn't know it at the time... imagine that....

Default It's working!

Scratch that last post. My only problem was that I had not intialized my GPS receiver yet. I walked outside to where I had an open space to the cloudy sky and turned it back on and it came to life!

ROAD TRIP!!!!!!

TeleNav

Make sure to leave out the www before ota.telanav.com. Select RIM and then select 8800. The 8800 build that downloads works fine on mine.

OK, looks like Telenav for 8300 is out. I stumbled upon it by accident.

http: //ota.telenav.com/ota/tn --> note the "tn" instead of "tm" This downloads an 8300 version 5.1.0.29 as opposed to 5.1.0.20 which is an 8800 build.

The 8300 version has a new menu item under preferences - "GPS source" (the 8800 build does not have this menu option). Set that to your paired BT gps receiver and you should be good to go. Seems to work with my Globalsat BT-359 receiver. So far so good.

Hope it works ok for you. I found the 359/ pearl combo rather erratic regarding signal so I went back to the 8800. Telenav is a great program. I almost bought a garmin nuvi, but telenav does everything I need.

Actually, for my 8700 I purchased it direct from their web site. They had a sale, $99/year so it came out to $8.25 a month. Downloaded it from there. The license is transferrable to any Blackberry, so I will use that login/pin on my new Curve when it arrives.
