Default Media Manager?

Please Login to Remove!

How do I get media manager on my 8300? It is not on it and I thought it comes loaded? Do I have to download from balckberry or roxio website? Is it in a service back for 4.2?

Media Manager is a desktop software that comes with your Desktop Manager download of ver. 4.2, Service Pack 2.

Where do I download the latest version of Desktop Manager? - BlackBerryFAQ

Media Manager comes with the desktop manager, like jsanders said. The new Roxio version comes on a CD with the Curve and downloads automatically during the instal process of DM on the disk. I was not going to use the disk that came with my 8300 since I had the 4.2 DM until I found out that Roxio was added for this device. Now I have it.

^^ what he said. If you have the up to date DM for curve Roxio will open as your Media Mgr.

I have yet to play around with it but it looks like a nice program compared to the basic media mangr.

Default Media Manager not installed

I have the same problem with Media Manager. Installed new software from CD, no media manager. Downloaded from cingular site. Still no media manager. Other 5 apps look and work fine in desktop manager. Had some strange - but typical - windows installation error but everything else installed fine. Must I resort to the brute force way of copying songs to my micro sd card on the 8300?? Help!!

Actually, with mass storage enabled... copying/moving from an explorer screen is faster.

Would you kindly post the version of DM you installed (Help > About). If you downloaded the latest version (4.2 Service Pack 2, almost 350mb download) then Media Manager is inside Desktop Manager.

What 5 apps? You should have:
Application Loader
Backup and Restore
Media Manager
Switch Device Wizard
Synchronize

That is 5 including the media manager you are looking for. It will not say "Roxio" but I think that was made clear earlier.

Default Missing Media Manager

Very, very strange on the missing media manager from the desktop redirector. It was missing when I installed from the CD that came with the 8300. So I went to the cingular download site. Downloaded version 4.2.2.14 The 5 applications that show up are:

Application Loader
Backup and Restore
EMAIL SETTINGS (shouldn't this be Media Manager??)
Switch Device Wizard
Synchronize

No idea.....

When it goes to load media manager it says loading media manager but it waits 2 seconds and no loading occurs and it pops to the finished screen. Any suggestions?

Reboot your computer. Check your Windows control panel and uninstall it if it shows there, reboot again and begin a new install of DM.

I sounds like he has the Disk tht came with the 8300. That has the right stuff on it, he is just having computer problems. Hopefully your suggestions help but I do not think he needs to download anything as it is on the CD.

Fixed it. Must have been a corrupt download. I uninstalled it. Then I went to
cingular.com/bbdonwloads
and download the 4.2 service pck 1 not 2 beacuse I run outlook 2003
It works. Maybe the CD that comes with the 8300 is for outlook 2007 and that is why it didnt work?

Default Problem solved!

Thanks everyone. I downloaded several different versions, none of which worked. I then followed the advice, uninstalled all prior versions of desktop manager, rebooted, shut down all running applications, and reinstalled V4.2 I now have media manager. Some flaky windows XP-OS problem.....Appreciate the help.

I had the same issue, using the CD that came with the Curve. Turns out, you can run the setup of the Media Manager by going to:

files\exec\bbinstaller\SR_MM and running setup.exe on the CD.

Doing that, the installer complained about not having administrator rights to install. Once that was fixed, I had my Media Manager icon in the DM.

Good luck!
