Does anyone elses trackball make a noise when using it? Not a clicking sound.

Your Thread says Tackball, just thought I'd let ya know!
Uhh, nope my Trackball doesn't really make any other noise then the click. Unless your talking about the ball itself just moving around inside it's little metal home. If that's what you mean, then yea it's normal to have some play and move around and make a little noise.

A slight rolling sound.

yea you can turn that off. My only issue with the ball is that it feels a little loose compared to the 8800.

Funny, I just got mine today and there is a definitely a noise coming from the trackball itself - NOT a system sound (trackball click option turned off in settings). It almost sounds like a "crackly rubbing" on something inside. Compared to my 8830 it is terrible. ATT is sending me a new one at this point. FYI, this unit was made in Canada.

"SAME HERE" and I just got one yesterday. I am not quite sure this trackball will stay there for 24 months. It does not feel right.

That was the first thing I noticed when I got my 8300. My Pearl and 8800 never made any extra sounds or ever felt mushy. I am trying to adjust. I did return my first Curve because of this. The new one is not as bad, but also not as good as my previous BB's.

My black Pearl makes a rubbing sound sometimes. It seems to quiet down if I clean it with a little alcohol.

My white Pearl (TMo refurb) makes a clicking noise as if the "audible click" is turned on (it's not.) It makes the noise in all 4 directions. I disassembled it looking for anything out of the ordinary but can't seem to find anything. It's almost as if it's supposed to be like that. The click sound is very even.

Mine is pretty smooth, about the same as my 8800! Unit was made in Mexico.

As I recall, my 8800 did this too. After a week or two of "break in" it got quiet.

Thanks for all the replies and spelling correction :(. I'll give it a few days and see if it helps "break it in"

I posted a couple days back that my curve was randomly shutting down... took it back today and the replacement had this exact problem.

It sounded like the whole pearl fixture was loose or rattling or something. Very annoying once I was tuned into it. Luckily, they had others I was able to check out instead.

I'm soo glad I read this thread and was aware of the problem before keeping the replacement!

I think everyone should return their 8300 to the store and roll the little ball back and forth while the sales person is listening!

I would love to see that!
