Coming from an 8700, and utilizing the desktop mgr, but not the BES, is it best to restore all contacts from a backup (I have 1000 contacts - ) and the emails accounts from blackberry's web client via a service book update?

In case the car falls off the ferry - Save the kids, then the Blackberry, the wife...well she can swim

The switch device wizard does a good job for this. You can use backup/restore as well if you like, though. You'll still need to go to your carrier's BIS site (used to be called the webclient site) and change the pin and IMEI associated with your account.
