I don't know what's happening!! A couple of times when I had my Pearl and even now when I have the Curve, in the middle of the night, I would get about 100-200 OLD emails that I have deleted from a week or two ago and they would all come at once so my phone is going crazy! Any suggestions on what I could do or does anyone have any idea why this is happening?!?

How do you have your email accounts set up on your Blackberry account? Are you forwarding or polling your emails? Are you on BES or BIS?

I'm on BIS, and I have my Gmail forwarded.

I don't think I've ever seen a setting in GMail that would randomly forward all your old emails. You could try removing forwarding from GMail and set your BIS account to retrieve the emails instead.

Oops I think I misunderstood the question. I have always had the BIS account to retrieve the emails. I never had a problem like that until about a week and a half ago first with the Pearl and now with the Curve.

I have my BIS account set up to retrieve my emails as well but I've never had the problem you have. I would say since this has happened both with your Pearl and Curve, that the problem is with your BIS account or GMail. I can't think of any more suggestions other than fishing around all of your settings in your BIS account and GMail.

I think another forum member has had the same thing happen. It may not be a Curve/RIM problem, it could be a GMAIL problem. If you do not find the cause, wait and see if it happens again. It may have been a one time thing.

This just happened to me for the second time in two weeks. Anyone come up with a solution?

I reset the POP settings so that POP was enabled only from "now" on, which seemed to stop the flow of old emails, but I'm getting nervous that this has now happened more than once. Does POP still need to be enabled for gmail to push with BIS 2.3?

I had read that you did not have to have pop enabled in Gmail with the new version of BIS. Haven't tested it out though and haven't had the problem you guys are facing.

That's what I thought I'd read, too. It seems that when the "big resend" happens, it's resending all of the mail from the "POP enabled as of" date. So I was hoping that disabling POP would solve the problem. Unfortunately, I tried disabling it, and then stopped getting my messages altogether. It seems that POP still needs to be enabled for the BlackBerry to retrieve messages from the account. :( What a bummer!
