I downloaded the desktop software and the OS from the O2 web page, then erased the AT&T software then installed the O2 OS. Bingo.......the AT&T software is still on there. What gives????

Delete vendor.xml from your PC.

I tried deleteing the vendor xml and still that damn AT&T OS keeps coming like a roach I cant kill. I called RIM and they told me that I cannot delete the AT&T os, I know that is a bunch of BULL S--T!

Do you still have the at&t software on your PC?

When you talk about the at&t 'OS software', are you referring to the 'shop music', 'shop themes', 'stream music', 'telenav', etc? If so, those have nothing to do with your OS. I believe they are pushed onto your device with your service books from at&t.

Or are you talking about the splash screen when starting up your device with the globe and at&t logo? If so, that is also nothing to do with your OS... from what I hear, it is hard-coded to whatever wireless provider the device was manufactured for.

no i un-installed the software, then re-installed the O2 desktop and OS, I erased the vender ID, now I am trying to do a full erase of the os again, hopefully it will work, has not worked so far. I have my fingers crossed.

What tells you that it didn't work? Do you get an error message?

That doesn't mean you don't have the O2 OS.

You still have PTT because your device's Vendor ID is 102, and platform.alx loads PTT because of that.

Also, you will not not see any visible indicators from O2. Please go to Options > About and check your version number.

That is exactly right, if you see v4.2.2.67 you have the O2 OS.

That is by design. Flashing the device does not change the vendor ID and device branding. An AT&T device will stay an AT&T and therefore get the PTT client installed.

Unless you edit platform.alx to stop it from being loaded. That's what I do on my 8800.

Can I just delete the platform.alx all togeather?

Are you referring to the AT&T splash screen that displays when you start the device? There is nothing you can do to remove this. This is part of the device BIOS and there is no way to change it.

No, you cannot delete the file. It is required.
