Question 8830 Voice dialing problems

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone encountered problems with voice dialing on 8830? Even under perfect conditions (i.e. not in the car) it seems to fail to recognize voice comand approximately 80-90% of time. Relaxing the stringency of recognition only gives more wrong options. Not sure how it hears "Call George" and offers "Did you say - call Erin?" Often it will miss it altogether and give the status of battery and coverage when asked to call, for example, "John".

In addition, when 8830 confirms the name to call, the pronounciation of the names from the address list is often unrecognizable.

1) Is there an option to improve name recognition as there is for numbers?
2) Is there a 3rd party software that could help solve this issue?

Thanks!

Default Voice dialing

I have a 8300 curve and experience the same problems. It seems the voice dialing is designed or programmed with the first and last name. I have had better luck using first and last name somewhere around 65-70%. Also modified some of my contacts with both first and last name the same example Dad and Dad works 100% of the time. I would love for RIM to include company names in the voice dialing this would help with the business side.

I hope this helps and also hope Rim continues to listen to us users and improves on this great feature

The 8300 is my first blackberry and so far, the voice dialing is my only complaint. My old Razr allowed me to record myself saying it and worked perfectly about 95% of the time.

I'll be dipped if I can get mine to work..

I was looking for a 'learn function' for often required names - but I guess that is not offered..

Bummer..
