First of all, I've never had a "smart phone" before, but I love my new Curve. I've been reading through the instruction manual and doing searches for solutions, but my search skills are either really poor or I'm an imbecile.

The volume control on the side doesn't seem to do anything, except during calls. I was hoping to lower the volume manually, especially for the text message alert sound; it's very loud, and it seems the profile options are either-or. "Normal" is too loud, while "Quiet" is silent. Am I totally missing something here?

Also, is there a way to change the text message alert sound? I went through the pre-loaded ones to find a less harsh one, but I don't see an option to "set as tone" for them.

The only way to lower/adjust the level of sound is thru the profiles settings under options and thats also where you change the different sounds for each item - IE. email, text,phone, etc.

Oh, geeeez, lol. I wasn't going deep enough in the menu in the profiles to edit them. Thanks so much!

I appreciate this thread...as the alert for voicemail was so loud as to be a distraction...until I went futher into the Profile menu. Set it on "mute"...
