Default Couple quick questions, new to BlackBerries

Hey guys,

Just got my Curve last week and it's my first BlackBerry. I've got a few questions.

First off, the light on the top right blinks red when I receive a text message, how can I make it blink when I miss/receive a call or receive a voice mail?

Also, my screen goes dim and it seems to do it when it wants. Then sometimes it'll come back to full brightness. I'm not talking about the screen timeout feature when it turns off, I have that set to 30 seconds. How can I make it stay at full brightness all the time or up until the 30 seconds when it times out?

One last thing, the top left button puts it into standby mode. I also have a case with a magnet that shuts the screen off. Is there any reason for me to put it into standby before I put it back into the case, or does the magnet in the case put it into standby automatically?

Thanks a lot!

Oh I remembered one more thing, I can't figure out how to delete names/numbers from my sim card? I deleted them from my address book but they still show up when they call so I guess they're in my sim card?

1. To set the led, use the "Repeat Notification" setting in profiles.

2. The screen dims and brightens based on the amount of light sensed by a light sensor near the led. You can turn the autobacklight off under Options >Screen/keyboard however, on my Pearl when I do that i don't get the full bright mode out in the sun. You can also set the timeout to longer in the same place but it won't affect the auto dimming feature.

3. If the magnet puts it to sleep in the case then you don't need Standby. I use Standby for when it goes in my pocket.

4. Go to address book. Click the menu key and select Sim Phone Book. You can delete them one by one from there.

thanks a lot, the only thing that didn't work though was #1.

edit -

ok i have found the repeat notifications, but there isn't anything for a missed call. under phone i have it set to led flashing but that just means it'll flash while im receiving a call...if i miss the call the led stops.

you should really consider an app called BB alerts - does what you want with missed calls, emails, etc

highly recommended
