Default The Curve or iPhone

Please Login to Remove!

Time to upgrade my phone with Cingular (AT&T). I have a Blackberry 8700, which I love, but wish it was smaller with a camera. The Curve looks like a nice upgrade, but a lot of people are telling me to go iPhone. What do you guys here think Curve or IPhone?

I'm with Sean, but I would buy the iPhone w/ the 2 year contract price and then pay full price for a BB it'll be cheaper!

Not sure about that at all, Apple -- AT&T (Cingular) retail staff got a memo two weeks ago saying there would be NO subsidy for the iPhone. So the reverse approach might be best, i.e. to get the Curve with a subsidy from AT&T and pay full price for the iPhone.

No Instant Messenger / Chat Software (no JiveTalk!), No Outlook Integration, No Real Keyboard, No Camera Flash (I think), No MMS, and No Navigation (no Navtec) does it for me. I am quite happy with my Curve.

I'm sure the iphone will be cool - And I can't wait 'till they'll be available in Canada, but, until I read some real reviews...there's no point to make that decision.

If you haven't bought a Curve yet, I would say wait a week and a bit until the iphone is out.

I read elsewhere yesterday that there is, in fact, Outlook integration.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8300/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

I'm not even thinking about the iPhone until it is at least 2nd gen! I'm more than content with my Curve right now.

Iphone also has no removable battery-Combine that with no outlook integration and no real keyboard, and thats a deal killer for me. After my feud with Apple over my ipod that died, I dont think I will purchase any more of their products. They just dont stand behind them.

Well, you have 30 days from the date of purchase to return whatever you buy, so try both of them.

I'm having a hard time keeping my itchy wallet finger in my damned pocket... iPhone... iPhone... and they upped the ante with an 8 hour battery and a glass screen... iPhone... iPhone... I'll be at the AT&T store at 6PM on the 29th, but I certainly won't buy one... iPhone... iPhone...

Ugh. Voices in my head are really annoying.

Can't replace battery? That to me is a gamble! You might end up with a $600 paper weight

Apple provides battery replacements for $99. Its by no means cheap, but its not a deal breaker.

All the complaints of no MMS/iChat etc... are just going to be taken care of by software updates. I think its just best to chill out and wait for Apple to roll out all their killer apps over the next 6 months.

Hi all, first post. I was drooling over the Iphone since it was announced back in February but it has waned recently. From everything that has been announced it looks as if the Iphone is going to be a very expensive Sidekick. I'm going to pick up my Curve this week and I'm sure I'll check out the Iphone when it's released. Time will tell whether I pick one up or not.

I have tried them all. A full bloated Windows Mobile phone, Windows smartphone, Blackberr(ies), and Symbians.

The iPhone will be a very nice multimedia communication device. But, with an estimated 3 million units being manufactured, will not be as exclusive as I had hoped. And no keyboard. IMO, NOT a phone for business use. It's an iPod with a phone, and internet browsing.

The Curve is the best on the market, for now, for pure business needs. Plus, it does have an acceptable Multimedia app (to play video and audio).

There is no "all inclusive" device, that does it all. Anything that claims to "do it all." may in theory be able, but, ends up being bloated, lethargic, and buggy.

My perfect combo now? A Curve, and the new HTC Athena mini-notebook 3G Windows Mobile phone. That has it all. But, you can't have it all, and have 2 phone calls going at once, plus e-mails coming in, like in a business scenario.

did i hear correctly that Iphone has no "push email" with the exception of Yahoo mail?

If so, i dont know how business users are even considering it as a viable option.

Especially given the early reviews which call the keyboard unacceptable for long emails.

Please, someone, correct me if Im wrong.

iphone is a nice device, but when i found out how much it cost, it turned me off so much i don't even care to go look @ one in person when it's released.

once u try a blackberry, you'll never look back ! it's a spell.
if you do actually defect to the other side, then i'll be

It seems to be up in there air if you have to sign a 2 year contract to get one. It seems like you wont be able just to go int the Apple store and cash and carry 1 out.

The iPhone supports IMAP integration, which is the type of mailbox that Microsoft Exchange supports. That will allow email syncing (not push, iPhone has to manually check regularly, with such a great battery that is probably not a big deal), but it does not do anything for the Calendar, Contacts, or Notes.

When I say "Outlook integration" I mean synchronizing with the calendar, mailbox, contacts, and notes on a Microsoft Exchange server.
