Thumbs up It works - 07-10-2007, 12:40 AM

I just downloaded the OTA patch and it worked perfectly. The phone now operates as designed. Unfortunately, ATT tech support staff remains unaware of the fix (or the problem, for that matter.) Thanks to the members of this forum for the heads up!!!

Default How do I know if I need the patch - 07-11-2007, 01:25 PM

Hello,
I just got my blackberry curve from Rogers and wanted to know if there is a way to know if I need the patch for the calendar.

Keep in mind that this is my first blackberry so pardon any 'stupid" questions.

Thank you

On your look under Options >About. Look at the version number and compare it to the version numbers in the link in the first post. If it's any of those OS versions then you need the patch. Off the cuff, I'd say Rogers needs the patch.

Talking 2007 Calendar Patch from RIM fixed my problem!!! - 07-25-2007, 03:13 PM

This is awesome! I had just purchased a BB Curve last week and was experiencing the same problem. I went to the website and applied the patch.

Then, in a flash, my BB Calendar was able to sync with both:
- My Outlook through BB Desktop Manager
- My iCal with MissingSync for BB

I really am happy that RIM found a way to get this going.

You're looking at one happy customer.

Default Do I need the 07 Calendar patch? - 07-31-2007, 03:25 PM

Hey everybody, new user here. Just signed up today. I'm on my 2nd BB and recently bought the new 8300 Curve. Sweet phone. I bought it through my service provider, AT&T, here in the US (not sure how far out this forum goes). Anyways, I got it last week around 7/25-7/26.... I've been reading everyones posts about the calendar update issues.

To my point. Do I need to do this calendar update? Again, I bought it/received it on the 25-26 of July. I have no problems downloading & installing the patch, but after reading some of your alls horror stories, I'm kinda hesitant. I'd hate to screw the new phone up. I have NO issues with sync'ing between my work Outlook calendar & home Outlook calendar. I dont get any double appts/meetings....

Thanks in advance.

I just tried to go to the link by goint to BlackBerry on my BB browser...and all I get is a black screen and below it are the words "running script"...but after waiting a good 5-minutes I blew it off!

What is wrong? Am I doing it wrong?

If it ain't broke ~ don't fix it

The following is a list of software versions with patches currently available:
4.2.2.66
4.2.2.67
4.2.2.75
4.2.2.81
4.2.2.85
4.2.2.89
4.2.2.90
4.2.2.89
4.2.2.103

Your version might be newer... I just upgraded to BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.2.265 (Chinese), clearly not one of the versions mentioned.

I applied the patch. It syncs everything fine, but for some reason it resyncs every appointment ever time. Not just the changes. Oh well. Main importance is that it syncs lol.

Looks like the only way to get the patch is with the BB Browser. I tried it with Opera Mini and when I got to the patch link it asked if I wanted to call 4.2.2.67. Crap. I still don't have my BB Browser yet.

Default not loading... - 08-22-2007, 04:28 PM

I am having a simlar issue as posted above. I go to the site www.blackberry.com/calendarpatch and just get a "running script" progress bar that loads half way and stops. Then I get an hour glass and sluggis preformace on every app after I quite out of the BB browser untill I restart.

Any ideas? Im on a mac, and my app loader doesn't seem to function. So if I can get the OTA download to work that would be great.

Hi,

I've got a 8300 running 4.2.2.114 however i'm trying to synchronize the calendar on BIS desktop manager and it won't allow me to do it, i get the error "unable to complete request". I disable calendar synching and it syncs everything else ok. Enable calendar and it won't sync at all.

Tried to get the patch but it won't allow the update as i'm running .114

Any ideas??

Yes, this version requires the patch. However,if you do need the patch there are OS updates now that don't require the patch. I recommend updating OS rather than a patch.

This version requires the patch. Installing it through my PC worked for me prior to my upgrade in OS.

yes, you are correct. 4.2.2.89 does require the patch. I edited my post above. I was mobile and couldn't remember of the top of my head and couldn't look it up.

However, the latest OS for the Curve does NOT require the patch so that is also an option. Here is a link.

Is it ok to load the Chinese OS? I am running AT&T. I am not 100% confident on this OS, please confirm that it works.

Welcome to the forums,
I actually recommend updating the OS rather than applying the patch. Here is a link to the latest OS for the Curve. It's released by another carrier (not AT&T) but all the 8300 OS's will work, regardless of which carrier released it.

The software in the link is newer than yours. It's 4.2.2.126 instead of your 4.2.2.89 and does not require the patch.

Default thanks - 09-22-2007, 03:32 AM

i am able to synchronize now that i deleted the vendor.xml. however, i did lose alllll of my calendar. even though it was visible from my handheld, the backup and restore did not work with the calendar. so i have to try my best to add every single appointment i had manually. =(

Well, I got this error message, too when rebooting to load a theme I had also downloaded today. I'm going to try and load the newest OS and see how that works. Otherwise my phone is just staring at me. Sigh. Good thing I have another phone to use while I try to resuscitate my Curve. Poor thing. I never have been good about following directions.

OK, I still can't get my Curve working, have downloaded two different OSes (smartone and singapore) and loaded them through the app loader (I think) and it's still showing the App Error 205. Sigh.

I can't seem to get the newest version of Desktop Manager downloaded though I thought I downloaded it when I got my Curve in June.

Any ideas?

Alrighty then. Got the OS to load without the battery in the device. I'll try and load the latest OS later now that my phone is unbricked. I would like calendar alerts to work so I don't miss appointments.

grrr. figured if I waited long enough, the patch would work on my BB.

been trying all day, and always end up with either a hung (it seems) browser or the "no patch for you" screen.

Short of doing the OS upgrade, which I'm for, but have a mac (my next search maybe), are there any other options to grab the OTA for the patch?

so for those of us with 4.2.2.89, if the site says "there's no patch for you" is that pretty much the end of the story? Is there a way to "game" the site to let me get the OTA link? I've seen plenty in this thread that get the same "No update for you" screen, anyone find a solution?

The new google sync won't work until my calendar is patched. Anyone?

I have a BB8300 with the calendar problem (apptmt into my BB not showing in my outlook but apptmt done in outlook does show in BB).
I installed this patch and afterwards it just told me that "calendar patch not required for this version" (I have v4.2.2.146).
What can I do to fix this problem? Do I have to upgrade mi OS, or what else do you suggest?
Thanks in advance.
