Default Curve without data plan

Hi,

I am new to BB and plan to get a Curve but don't plan to get any data plan (I basically need one device for my PIM and phone - but no need for data). Will I be handicapped in the functions - for instance, synchronizing with outlook, ROM update etc?

No, it won't be crippled.
You'll still be able to sync your PIM functions and perform OS/Firmware updates.
