Default eMail accounts won't sync from PC

Please Login to Remove!

I have a BlackBerry 8300. I just upgraded from an 8700c on Cingular. I am having trouble getting the phone to synchronize eMails. If I delete an eMail from by BES corporate account, the eMail deletes from my Desktop PC (Outlook client). If I move the file to a personal folder on my Desktop PC, it won't delete from my BlackBerry.

It seems as though I actually have to delete the eMail from the Desktop Outlook PC client before it is removed from the Blackberry.

To compound matters, I can't get my existing POP3 accounts to reconcile at all. I have to delete on the Desktop and Handheld. They syncing is totally broken there.

I've spent hours on the phone with Cingular, corporate support, etc. I've gone through two phones now and even went so far as to delete and reset the accounts on my cingular.com/blackberry start page.

In reading through the forums, it looks like there are a lot of synchronization (mainly for calendar) issues happening.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Chris

Have you talked to your BES Admin to make sure you are properly set up on BES? Maybe something was changed and your BB didn't get updated? That should have been the first thing you did.

Yes. I talked with my BES admin. I spent 90 minutes on the phone with them. The best they can come up with is that the 8300 is buggy. They say I should have kept my 8700. Whatever.

The obvious issues have been tried. There's a bug in the software and I'm going to have to just wait to get it fixed.

Personal folders are not online and therefore will not sync to BlackBerry. If you move an email to a PST it will just sit on the BlackBerry as the BES won't know where the emails have gone.

Also check you reconciliation settings on the device:

Delete On: Mailbox and Handheld

The above setting will be in Messages - Options - Email Reconciliation

Lastly, sack your BESAdmin for being crap.

Yes, I understand how Personal folders work. I should have stated that I'm a support analyst and network admin. This is my 3rd BlackBerry model over the last 3 years. The issue is that the 8300 won't respect movement of an email to a Personal folder. It respects a deletion, but if an eMail is moved to a Personal folder, the 8300 doesn't remove it. And yes, all of the settings on my eMail accounts are set correctly.

My 8700 had no troubles with this at all. The problem is specific to the 8300. I actually put my 8700 back in service yesterday for a short time and all of the syncing issues went away. I fired the 8300 back up and the syncing problem persists.

My BES folks are outsourced but they're not that bad. The 8300 is clearly the culprit, or more specifically, the OS that's on it.

I do not understand how an email moved from the Inbox to a folder in a .pst folder in Outlook can delete from the BB. My understanding is that to be deleted from the BB, the message mus be in the deleted items folder, which is why items shift-deleted in Outlook will not delete on BB. I believe this is trus of all BBs.
