Default How easy it is....

Please Login to Remove!

Purchased my new Curve through AT&T using my corporate discount from UPS. I decided to call the new AT&T this afternoon from my office at an attempt at getting an unlock code for my device. Told the rep.I was traveling internationally in two weeks and needed the code to be able to use a prepaid sim card. She requested my code and 1 hour later...

Your request for the subsidy unlock for your device is approved.

Please note you only have (5) tries to unlock this phone. After 5 unsuccessful attempts, the device will be permanently locked to the New AT&T network. See below for your unlock instructions. Please call our technical Support department at 1-877-834-3318 if you need any assistance with unlocking your device.

Instructions:

BlackBerry device running handheld software version 4.1

For the device to display the software version, select "Options" then "About"

Action

1

3

4
Select "Options"

5
Select "Advanced Options"

6
Scroll down and select "SIM Card"

7

8
Type "MEP2"
- this will not display on screen

I really have to say, I've heard a lot about bad CS from the "New AT&T" but I have to disagree with that! I just saved myself $20 on an unlock code!

Sometimes, they're able to do it on the spot, which is nice. If not, be sure you get a case number. First time I got one, it took 3 calls

It's easy as long as you are a customer of the carrier the phone is branded to. I find it somewhat humorous that they sent you instructions for a handheld running 4.1 OS when the Curve never had 4.1 handheld code.
