Default Tehthering with AT&T on Curve - Further Clarification

Please Login to Remove!

I'm debating a switch to the Curve since my GF and coworkers all have AT&T and my Pearl is with TM. TM signal also sucks in my client's office, but don't get me started on that one. The one feature I love is the tethering with TM because I spend 4 nights a week on the road and don't think it's fair to charge my clients $10.95 a night for internet through the hotel. I know TM doesn't charge for the tethering hook up the San Fran posted, but does AT&T?

I've been reading in this forum that AT&T does charge even if you have an unlimited data plan, however some of my colleagues have said they are not charged by AT&T.

Does anyone have any insight on this? Would be a huge help for me. Thanks.

How can they even tell (at&t)? I never did understand this bit. I'm sorely tempted to just go back to Tmo until the iPhone is "ready" but then i'll lose my curve and/or have to buy one open market.

Tmobile is a much better provider for BB in my opinion, i honestly really regret coming to ATT - I came for iPhone then returned the iPhone for the Curve (so much happier - and I am a mac fanatic) - right now it just sucks that ATT is such a crap company in terms of services, overcharging and terrible customer support

that is your opinion... because mine is the exact opposite of yours about att.

i've been with them since i returned from japan (and we are WAY far behind in the cell phone technology department than japan, when i first got there in 2002 everyone had a color screen cell phone with a camera when we still had the bricks with either a green backlight or blue)

anyway, they may be a little more expensive but in EVERY area i've ever visited/worked whatever, i have ALWAYS had a signal, dropped a call every now and then but only when driving...

It doesn't matter much to me now since work is paying for it, but for my own out-of-pocket I'd have to go w/ Tmo. Minutes, data, SMS, and tethering all in the same plan versus this add-on bs att puts you through.

Let's focus here people. Back to tethering. I have 2 questions for the people who have tried to tether using the San Fran fix that got charged:

1. How much did you tether with the phone?
2. How much were you charged?

Customer support was great before iPhone, once people learn how to work their phones it should be back to normal.
