Default Missing Camera Icon

Please Login to Remove!

I was in the process of moving my camera icon to a different position and inadvertently did something and it disappeared. It's not hidden...already checked that, and it's not in some other folder...it's just gone!

I'm using the default AT&T theme, tried restarting (battery out/in first), searched everywhere, but it's not there. The camera is still working, I can launch it from the right convenience button, but since I don't use the camera much I have that button normally mapped for the voice dialing.

This is really weird and I see nothing about it in the search engines. Any help appreciated. I would like to not have to do a hard reset to avoid the obvious hassle of reconfiguring everything.

Have you tried the other themes? If it does not show up in any of the other themes then it is gone and you will have to start over.

Yes...tried the only other theme on the phone and don't see the camera icon in it, either. If this happens again, I think the 8300 is going back...I should be able to move icons around to suit me without having to wipe the handset all the time. I've been a BB user for many years, and though I REALLY like the 8300 a lot, I have this feeling that when they started their SmartPhone models the old BB quality has been somewhat diminished. Sorta like 15 years ago a Mercedes was a fine automobile...now it's just a "good" automobile.

I would be mad too but been using Blackberry from when the 6510 Nextel unit first cam out and I would NEVER consider leaving.

The 8300 is an outstanding unit but like any other, I ALWAYS make backups of my device with the Desktop Software on a daily basis if I am doing the kinda of things that could get me in trouble. I know this was not your fault but just 60 seconds with a back up and you could be back where you were.

Your Blackberry sounds important to you, I know it is to me so do a backup.

A current backup is a good thing! As we ask these devices to do more and more they get more complicated. I love my 8300 and we will not see something better for a while! Mine is so important to me I keep a brand new 8300 at my office!

Greg,

I would never consider leaving BB...I said I was displeased with the quality of their SmartPhone devices in comparison with the older models. I love the 8300, but if it's going to be a problematic device and not even allow me to move icons around to suit me...I can go back to my 8700, or try a new 8300.

I connect directly to my BES so don't use any desktop software (for the backup)...and additionally I use a Mac, so I don't think Desktop Manager works with it. I have a Windows machine I could use I suppose if necessary.
