hi guys,

new to blackberry here...got my curve yesterday and i like it. i have been able to learn a little bit abt the bbs and go thru the installation and syncing with no major problems thanks to these forums. now i have a problem i could not find any good threads when i searched here. probably wrong keywords. anyway, i have set up my work email (no BES...simple BIS) that I access via ms outlook on curve. it works like a charm except, my outlook is stuck now. it gives me a send/receive error. the emails that i get to that account, i can see them just fine on my curve, but i don't receive them on my outlook. i want to be able to get my emails on my outlook as well as my curve. also, i can not even send messages from my outlook, they are stuck in the outbox because of the send/receive error and i know that some ppl do it that way, so i might be missing something.any help is appreciated.

btw 4.2 desktop manager and software versions.

thanks in advance!

jsaradhi, there should be no connection your Outlook send/receive and your BlackBerry. When you installed the Desktop Manager, did you select Redirector service?

If you are deleting emails from your BB, and have selected the default to delete from server, that could cause your Outlook not to get those emails if they have not previously been download to Outlook.

But still, none of this should affect you being able to send from outlook.

Welcome to the Forums, too, by the way.

jsanders,

thanks for such a quick response. i do not remember selecting anything like redirector service. is there a way to do it now that i have installed the Desktop Manager or do I have to reinstall?

but i have been receiving this send/receive error on my outlook right after i set up my curve to access the email. also, i checked my outlook before i deleted the email from my curve, no new emails because of the error. oh yeah, it says outlook is having problem connecting to the incoming email server and when i try to send an email, it says error connecting to the outgoing mail server in the details of the error.

thanks again...any help is appreciated.

js, again, that error message is particular to Outlook and not related to the BlackBerry. Unless I am missing something major here, you simply have an error connecting to your mail server.

This happens about 2x week on my PC in my office. I close Outlook and reopen and usually it works fine. Sometimes I will need to reboot my computer or the dsl modem/router. I am betting $1 that is your problem. Reboot the computer, turn off your dsl modem, and back on.

Try again. If it still errors, your complete internet connection could be down for right now.

how do i get you your $1? hehe. thanks, rebooting my system took care of it. its weird coz my colleague had no problems with his outlook when i was having problems with mine. and when they occurred right after i set up my curve, i thought it was some setting that i probably forgot that was doing it. anyway thanks a lot!

another question, i tried to download bb maps and it said the bb maps is not for at&t users. i am with at&t, is there some other version that i can download? any other sites you recommend for me to find some applications that might help me?

thanks again!

Yes, use this download, FROM your BB browser, AT&T sorta makes it hard to get BBMaps, but it works.

Good luck, have fun, spend the $1 doing something fun on my behalf!
