| Good luck in Apple land! I must admit the iphone is a sick phone, however some things need fine tuning on the device. You'll either find out real soon what I'm talking about and pack it up and return it, or simply fall to much in love with it and just over look any flaws that it has. Good luck either way! | | Offline

Sam | My thoughts exactly. My Curve has one of the best builds of any phone/device I have ever owned. I am really shocked at how such a lightweight phone can be made so solidly and tightly.
Good luck with your iPhone. I am hanging in BlackBerryville until some real "dealbreakers" are fixed with either software or hardware updates before I even consider jumping ship to the iPhone. It is cool...but seems to be almost a "beta" release from Apple...with many, many users waiting with baited breath for Apple to release updates to heal some problems they are having.
Hope you are happy with yours though... . Again, good luck!! | | Offline

You gotta be kidding me, this is why you state the quality is not there? Really? That is the reason for real? I wish you well with your iphone but your rationale is not sound. The ball tightness? Really? Functionality is pretty important, wouldn't you think? Good luck hearing on the iphone in the car, good luck sending MMS messages (oops, you can't), good luck staying awake while waiting for web pages to load, good luck with trying to keep it clean, I hope they clear those 68 bugs identified (as of last weekend) in the near future for you. The trackball, no really, you gotta be kidding me. How does it feel to be a Beta tester of a $600 phone (that you got to pay for)?
Best wishes
Sam

| I feel great. Most of the people in this forum is talking about leaving there 8300 for the iphone. All phones have bugs. Apple is know for patching their devices. I am happy with my phone. What is 500.00, when you make $4,600 a month? I should have got my 4 year nephew a iphone. I hope you are happy with your 8300. Thank Rim for that cheap plastic trackball. lol.lol. | | Offline

All phones have bugs is probably true but 68 known bugs on the iphone last weekend? Yes, the 8300 has had the calendar bug but nowhere near the bugs in the iphone.
I am very glad you are happy with your iphone
$500 is a lot of money when you make $4600/mo. You minimize the value of $500 but to most people in the US $500 to drop on a gadget is pretty painful, particularly if they have kids and mortgages. Yep, if you are single with no family expenses then $500 is probably not that big a deal.
I am VERY happy with my 8300, maybe the best all around phone I have had and I have had many. I may end up with an iphone some day but the beta version they are selling right now is no where near ready from a capability or software standpoint.
Cheap plastic trackball, you crack me up! What a load of poo!
Keep telling yourself how great the iphone is. We all know that a lie told enough times becomes the truth.
I am happy that you love your iphone but don't try and feed us crap about the 8300 versus the iphone, your arguments are just weak. | | Offline

saving some bits & pieces here and there is not about being poor/rich, it's about state of mind and being able to stash something on the side for a rainy day, or to retire early.
from my perspective, you just cut your retirement short by about 6 months by spending so much money on a PHONE. hope it pays you back with joy.....my joy will be when i'm 50 and can willingly not work, and buy a nice car with cash and not worry about it making a dent in my pocket.

only thing i liked was the multi-touch technology and being able to throw things around on the screen. other than that you cannot do anything productive that a blackberry can't do faster except for surfing the net with wifi. and that's because ppl r too lazy to walk thier carcasses to a computer and surf the internet ? common folks.... | | Offline

"Is this true because I really want a 8300. But I cant afford to purchase 2 and 3 refurbs if mine breaks."
You were sharing with everyone how you really wanted to get the Blackberry, but that AT&T didn't offer insurance. When the rep from AT&T said you could always pick up a refurbished bb in case of a problem, you said "WHAT??? I can't afford to get a refurbished phone for backup!!!"....
Did you suddenly get a raise?
Now you're here posting how the 8300 is junk, but apparently, you've never owned one! Hum....

| This thread really doesn't need to be in the 8300 forum since it seems to be all about the iPhone and monthly income now. Since there doesn't seem to be much of a point to it at all, it should be closed. | | Offline

| I have both the Curve and the iPhone. I have the Curve mainly for the tight BES integration. I got the iPhone for personal use because I really didn't like my employer being able to snoop on my phone (BES admins - you know what I'm talking about here). Once the iPhone can decently sync Exchange email it's game-over for my Curve, which I love. The iPhone is the future, believe it or not.
I think the money issue is a personal one. It's about what you value and the amount of enjoyment you get out of it. I really don't think that the iPhone will drop too significantly in price over time either. If it follows all of Apple's other products (especially the iPods), they will maintain 2 price points and simply keep upgrading the device rather than cut price. They will probably release a lesser version to get the low-end of the market though.
That being said, I can't wait for RIM's 9xxx series to show up! Yes, I am a gadget whore. Proud of it! | | Offline

I bet you are in your late thirtys. Bout time Im your age, I will be in the 6 figure mark. Even MiaImolaZHP who has a 8300 says the iphone is a better pda/phone than the crapberry. I guess that why we at the Department of Defense changed over to treo's when the blackberry email server crashed. RIM lost their united states government contracts. Poor RIM.
