A few Curve questions -
07-22-2007, 08:11 PM
First of all hello! I have enjoyed reading through these boards over the past couple days and I must say I think they are a GREAT source of information!
I'm new here and I respectfully would like to ask a couple of questions about my BB Curve.
I am totally new to using a BB and I purchased one last week. Sadly it died after 4 days of use. It had 3 bars of battery life and it simply shut off while sitting on my desk. It wouldn't boot even after pulling the battery. Thinking it may be a power issue I tried to charge it. The only thing that happened was a faint (and I mean VERY faint) icon of a battery with a huge red slash through it popped up on the black screen. I took it in to Cingular and they said it was dead. I'm not sure why this happened and no one at the store could tell me anything about it.
So.... they replaced it (whew!).
Here's where my questions come in to play.
On the first BB Curve, I would go send emails by typing an address in. Then I would send another to the same address later, and would start typing the address and all of a sudden the BB would give me "auto complete" email address to choose from. Which was cool!
With my new BB Curve I can't do that. The only thing I noticed that is different than my first BB is all of my address book contacts were under a "work" group. They aren't under any groups at the moment, as far as I can tell anyway. Maybe when the clerk was setting up my BB Curve the 1st time he did something in relation to downloading my addresses off the SIM?
1) How can I re-enable the email "auto complete" again?
My second question is this:
2) When I receive either a text message (MMS or SMS) and/or an email to my blackberry.com email address, I now have BOTH icons on my desktop showing a new event for the same thing. In other words if I get an email the email icon AND the message icon both show as having a message. I can read the email message in the message icon and vice versa.
It wasn't like this on my first Curve, so I must have done something wrong when I set the Curve up the 2nd go around.
Lastly,
I appreciate any helpful answers you may offer. I searched through the forums looking for possible answers but I couldn't find anything specific to the 8300 Curve. I apologize if I clearly missed it somewhere else.
Thanks again!
