I have heard good things about it however, I haven't yet tried it. I have one on the way and should receive it in the next week or so and will post a review after I get it.

Hi,

Just to let you all know that the Freedom Mini GPS Receiver has just started shipping.

Its dimensions are 39 x 33 20 compared to the Holux GPSlim 240 which is
22 x 64 15.

So the Freedom Mini GPS Receiver is slightly thicker but only half the length.

Best regards,

Chris Macsween.

That's what I thought too. I had considered the Holux, and almost bought it also, until I stumbled upon the Freedom Mini and fell in love.

Freedom mini just looks beautiful, especially on a keychain. John Clark, where have you ordered it from and for how much, if you don't mind me asking.

We love it too but then we are biased!!

At the moment, you can buy the Freedom Mini GPS Receiver directly from our website shop only on Freedominput.com because it is such a new product and we are only just starting to organise shipments to our distributors in the US and Canada.

We are just in the process of setting up the ability to pay in dollars on the site so you are not punished by the exchange rate into pounds sterling.
Until the dollars are up there, please post or PM to me (or email me) and I can send you a paypal button for $99.99 plus $30.00 postage and packing ($129.99) if you want to buy one directly from us.
Alternatively, I can let you know as soon as any of our US/Canadian distributors have stock available to ship.

Hope this helps

Currently the Curve has no GPS Receiver built in. The Freedom MINI GPS Receiver works beautifully with the Curve. I have a Curve so I know well!

Thank you! Is there any price break for us here at the Forum? I promise you that if you come up with a price break especially for this forum, your business volume will quadruple!

And yes, PLEASE let us know when its available for distributors in the US. Don't want to pay $30 shipping

I have to say I like this Forum. People are polite and well informed and willing to help each other.

So................... I'll do an opening offer for all Forum members on the Freedom Mini GPS Receiver.

I'll give you an introductory buy price of $89.99 and I'll deliver free to the US. I can only do this for a short while until the regular distribution in the US is available.

For the moment, just email me, or PM me or leave a post here and I'll send you a paypal button for $89.99.

Not sure about business volume guaranteed to "quadruple" but that does make it quite an attractive device for the price. I'll post back after I get mine and have a chance to try it out.

I may have exaggerated on that But I do have about 8 people here at work ready to drop 89 bucks on this deal. It really is attractive that that price point.

I see another thread on this. I guess they got rid of the Audi logo that was on it and started a new thread. good idea.

Hoping to see mine in the mailbox today or tomorrow...

I am snooping around for another 8800 as a backup phone to take on vacation soon just for the GPS...but if the Freedom Mini and TeleNav work as well as John says...I will save my money and use the Curve exclusively.

Just to let everyone who has bought one of our GPS Receivers - the Royal Mail online tracking system may not be showing evidence of your tracking number. This is because they are suffering from strike action currently and the online information may be out of date.
This will, in turn, affect the US Mail tracking. It does not mean that your delivery is held up (they will all definitely arrive in the correct time).

If anyone would like me to scan the packet receipt with the tracking number and date on, I would be more than happy to send one out to you.

Chris Macsween.

Not to bust the bubble of happiness here but I checked the Holux GPSlim 240 out and it is available on Amazon.com with shipping for $80. I guess it comes down to size and price. I did order the Holux and am quite pleased with it as some of you are with the Freedom Mini. The reviews on Amazon.com for the Holux convinced me it was the way to go for that price point.

Either way, you can't tell me to get lost...

Default Great Product - 08-02-2007, 11:51 AM

Received mine earlier this week. Started using it (read playing with my new toy) immediately. Very accurate and quick response rate. Has now replaced my Garmin portable in my car for travel. The claims that it works in your pocket or in your briefcase are also true. Using it with Google Maps, mainly because I am a creature of habit and it is free!

Plus, Chris and Nigel are excellent with customer support and quick e-mail responses.

Thanks for a quality product!

Haven't needed customer support. But will confirm all the above. Great product. Works with Google and BB Maps. Haven't tried any of the others because I am too cheap to buy them.

At first, I really thought this was a fantastic product--however, I have to change my tune. I have very little luck picking up a signal----and when I do, it can take up to twenty minutes for my device to find the satellites. Its pretty much useless to me.

I just bought the Freedom puck and have paired it with my 8300 but haven't used it yet. Are you saying it works with Google maps on the 8300 for free? Is there a fee for using BB maps? Which do you prefer, and why? Thanks.

Woo-hoo!! Just got my Freedom Mini GPS in the mail today, and it's charging up as I type. I can't wait to see how it and TeleNav play together on my Curve!!

I still get occasional disconnects while using TeleNav and my Freedom puck. Not sure if it's the puck or Telenav. I'm leaning toward TeleNav since they've had a history of this.

I use Google and my wife uses BB maps. It is a personal pref thing. I like Google's visual interface (looks nicer) and the serches for businesses etc are very easy. My wife likes the larger icons on BB maps especially the locator showing you your location. As stated above... to each his (or her) own.
Hope this helps.

If you haven't yet tried Yahoo Go! 2.0 it also has a nice interface with GPS/bluetooth devices as an alternative to BB Maps, TeleNav, and Google Maps. I like Yahoo Go! for its all-in-one approach and it presents the turn-by-turn text at the bottom of the screen so it isn't blocking the middle of the map as it does on Google Maps. It also shows live positioning with an arrow indicator of the direction traveled.

Can you have the Freedom and Handsfree bluetooth on at the same time while driving?
