Default 8300 on Tmobile dropping calls - 07-23-2007, 06:08 PM

I've been on the curve for about a month now using tmobile. After seveal minutes, the phone just cuts out from the call. I've tried every OS posted under the sun and still have the problem. It appears that I only have the problem when calling or being called from another cell phone. Land lines do not appear to drop. Anyone have any ideas?

If it is hardware, do I send it back to RIM? Will they replace it with another unlocked phone? Thanks!

RIM doesn't normally do warranty work except through the providers. You have to send it back to the carrier. Since TMobile doesn't offer the curve they won't warranty it. Since you are not a customer of the carrier that is branded to the phone they won't warranty it either. You are kind of in no-man's land when you use unlocked phones on other providers.

It is an at&t branded phone, they offer a 1yr warranty. It will be a pain to get it serviced though, you may need to activate it on someone you know's existing at&t account before you are able to send it to XBM.

I dont know however, it might be easier then that. You may just need to give an at&t phone number just like when you buy it unactivated.

This all doesn't sound promising...

there are a couple of threads right now about people having problems with higher OS's and the calls cutting out intermittently.. Pearl's, 8700's, and I guess now the 8300. (which is possibly why T-Mob hasn't released it yet) If that's the case, you can rest well that your phone is good, it's just the interaction with the network that's the problem
