I habnt seen any good car kits for the curve yet.

An external GPS puck is always more accurate and faster (IMO....) - and my wife has a BlackBerry Curve too, my private BB is a Paerl and all of them are working great with the GPS puck which stays in our car

I like the darker body colors of the 8310 ! Heres a Pic I just got --> http://i1.fastup.de/view.asp?file=8310.jpg
That looks nice! Too bad the 8300 replacement keyboard isnt available yet!

That wouldn't help unless you also had the 8310 firmware for the qwerty keypad.

I really like the "gunmetal" color of the housing better myself...but the keypad appears to be the exact same color as the AT&T US version.

Wonder when the rumored (and probably photoshopped) black one will surface?

At least one UK carrier will pick it up. They will have a QWERTY firmware!

I'm getting the basic 8300 now and I'll upgrade to the WiFi-equipped 8320 when T-Mo releases it in the U.S.

I'm using a Freedom Mini GPS puck with my 8300 now, but I would really be more apt to jump on a new 83xx device if it had built-in GPS rather than WiFi.

Everybody has preferences and priorities...and I am rarely in situations that would let me enjoy, or need WiFi. The GPS is a much bigger draw IMO.

Does anyone have an idea on when we can expect these to hit the shelves??
This will happen very quickly. If you think about it, any carrier shipping the current Curve is bound to insist on getting the updated version from RIM. In the UK Vodafone and O2 sell the Curve, so I'd expect them to want to new version pretty sharpish - no carrier wants to be stuck selling the old model, no matter how recently it was released.

Not sure where you live Northerner, but guessing by your profile info, you live in Detroit?

If so, good luck typing on the German Vodeophone 8310. Did you not see the Y and the Z buttons are in the opposite spots!?

small price to pay to get the GPS... typing on BB isn't like using a full keyboard, so it wouldn't be too much of a dealbreaker for me

Hi!

I'm pretty sure that you can have it without a contract - but vodafone tends to be rather expensive selling hardware without airtime...

When I talk to them tomorrow I'll ask how much the "blackish" beauty will be.

Greetings

ditto, or on a UK carrier. I will be in London again in about 3 weeks so I could simply get a qwerty model there once it is available!

I'd rather wait for the 8320. GPS can be added with a BT GPS receiver but wifi cannot be added separately. It's a better buy to get the 8320 imo.

Not a bad idea, but who knows when they will release the Wifi 8300. The wifi components might not even fit into the casing/form factor of the 8300 series. Is there any solid proof that a wifi 8300 will be released?

Everyone thought that "Papa bear" would have both wifi and GPS, but that proved to be incorrect...
