Lol, the Chinese input support is all there. I'm actually testing this OS on an unlocked AT&T Curve with a T-Mobile SIM to see if the new OS will take on the service books correctly, or if it's still a lost cause for TMo users.

I'll load this OS update onto my Curve later on and see if there are any improvements over the 4.2.2.222 OS.

Indeed. I also altered the .alx files to add the CDMA themes from the 8830 devices (Verizon, Bell Mobility, etc.), and I'll see how those go as well.

how do you alter the alx for more than adding the AT&T Icon
O2 Today
O2 Zen
Orange Icon
Rogers Zen
Telefonica Zen
TIM Zen
T-mobile EU Zen
T-mobile US Zen
Vodafone Today - Green (the old version)
Vodafone Today - White (Brand New)
themes?
is the CDMA theme there also? same procedure to just remove the "102"?

Nice find. Edited with instructions and stuck thread. Downloading now and will post .alx's in the Edited .alx sticky thread later tonight.
Any word on the Service Book issue? I posted the same note in the OP as in the last OS sticky thread. If the service books come through we can remove the note.

Testing with the TMo user ... doesn't seem to be getting that service book. Sorry, TMo customers, looks like you're stuck with the O2 OS for now. =\

Not sure if this is new (or even what it does)...
Options>Security>Software Tokens??
Other than that, I haven't noticed much of a difference.

Okay, here's what I've found on this, straight from the BTSC ( click here for the article):
Quote:
Token-based credentials are network security credentials that use a token formed by combining a unique identifier, called a seed token, and another variable. Successful network authentication requires a valid token.
There are two different types of token-based credentials: hardware tokens and software tokens. Hardware tokens are tokens generated by a physical device separate from the network client device and software tokens are generated by software residing on the network client device.
The RSA SecurID® Library (a cryptographic library) on the BlackBerry smartphone periodically generates a software token for network authentication.
|
...take that explanation as you will. No clue here.

I realize the download speeds from RIM are quite slow. However, RIM doesn't allow outside hosting of the OS files without permission, so we can't allow it to be uploaded here at BBF. I've removed the torrent attachment.
Thanks for your understanding.

Why torrent / seed an ISO that changes frequently??? I realize some do not have the RIM CD but it is just as easily downloaded from RIM...
My experience with Torrents has been, while they are rock solid data wise, they are generally slower than http or ftp downloads.. Torrent speed is based on the number of seeds -v- the number of downloads....

I don't know if it's just my BlackBerry that's doing this or not but since I performed the OS update I have noticed that when I press the sym key when typing in email there is a lag now before the symbols display where as before there was no lag. Overall I haven't noticed any major differences between this OS and the Optus 4.2.2.222 OS.

T-Mo user here: I am using (the Chinese) version 4.2.2.114 and I am getting the "service book," and running Opera browser just fine. I have to assume that upgrading won't change that. I also assume that I am not the only one who is getting the "service book" right?...

Nope. But I can surf the Net fine with the Opera. I am also getting my entire email accounts and my Fav-5. What am I really missing? The only thing I can't do is OTA installations but I can live with that...

True indeed, but for a user that requires OTA downloads, this is inconvenient. =\
