Angry 8300 Sync Problems

Please Login to Remove!

I have had my 8300 for about a month and have been having ongoing problems connecting and syncing it with my home pc. I don't think it is my 8300 as it syncs fine with my work PC and charges fine with the wall charger. I also don't think it is the USB cable as I have tried swapping the USB cables and again it will not connect, but I can connect and download from my digital camera using the same cable.

Here is what happens;
1) Connect the sync cable to my 8300
2) Windows recognized the BB and it shows as connected in the DM
3) After a short period of time (1-2minutes) it will automatically disconnect, the DM will show as working and then it will reconnect again. (This happens regardless of whether I am trying to sync or not.) It does not stay connected long enough to complete a full Outlook sync.

Here is what I have tried;
1) Hard reset of my 8300
2) Complete removal and reinstall of DM V 4.22
3) Disabled USB Root Hub Power Management Option
4) Disabled Norton firewall
5) Tried 3 different USB cables

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I am losing my mind trying to fix this problem

Do you have any kind of 3rd party software running? Or maybe a browswer that's still browsing and crashing your BB?

(I'm assuming not because you said you did a hard reset. But maybe you did that then reinstalled the culprit ...just a thought)

Makes me wonder about your USB hardware on your home PC. Are your using a USB hub? Is the USB cable or handheld being bumped or moved during the connection. Have you tried downloading the most recent DM from the BB site?
Can you try connecting to a different USB port on your home PC?

I am having a similar problem.

My PC does not recognise my BB at all. It used to, but has now stopped altogether. I have reloaded the desktop software. Used other devices in the USB ports. Hard Reset the BB but still had no success.

The USB cable does not seem to be faulty as it still charges the BB but there is no connectivity to the desktop manager for the bb.

Found the Solution (it worked for me)

The Hard reset has to be done in a specific sequence alon with reconnecting the device.

Procedure

When the BlackBerry device is not detected by the BlackBerry Application Loader, and you have verified all cables and connections, complete the following steps:

Note: Timing is important in this process. Read through the following steps before beginning this procedure.

1. Disconnect the BlackBerry device from the computer.
2. In BlackBerry Desktop Manager, open Application Loader and click Next.
3. Perform a hard reset on the BlackBerry device. For instructions, see KB02141.
4. Reconnect the BlackBerry device to the computer before the BlackBerry device finishes resetting, and complete one of the following steps:
* For BlackBerry devices with a USB connection, wait until the drop-down list on the Communication Port Selection window changes to USB PIN and click Next.
* For BlackBerry devices with a serial connection, click Next on the Communication Port Selection window.
5. If the Handheld Password Required dialog box appears, type your password. The Application Loader will detect the BlackBerry device.

Note: If these steps do not complete successfully the first time, the BlackBerry device might have finished resetting before the Application Loader could connect to the BlackBerry device.

I'm not sure how ... but this worked like a charm.

One further addition. I stood on a chair and rubbed my tummy while it was resetting, which seemed to help as well.

THANKS!

Angry Sync Problem - Not Solved

I spoke to soon.

The above solution did allow my desktop computer to recognize my BB and perform 1 sync, however my BB still randomly disconnects and then reconnects every 1-2 minutes or less?

Could this be a USB issue with my computer? I use the same port/cable to sync to my digital camera which works fine....

Grrrrrr...

I am having problems syncing my 8300 with my mac and im not sure if this method will help. Everytime I try to perform a sync the program asks for a password. When I enter my phones password it tells me that its wrong. I have tried using pocket mac and missing sync. I have tried changing passwords, I have tried wiping the phone as well as wiping with third party apps. nothing works. Any ideas here?

I have the very same issue with my 8300
Have the phone about 6 months now and had totally given up backing up or connecting to pc as it was so annoying
Went to do same again yesterday to get pics and to backup the handheld
Same problem again!!!

I plug in the USB cable into the Berry and for about 5 seconds it shows a charging symbol and then it goes. PC wont recognise it at all

So, I resort to what I always do
Put extreme pressure downwards on the usb connector and suddenly the pc recognises it. This is fine for a backup, as a couple of mins does it, but I had to do a full wipe and OS reinstall once and I thought by the time I was done, the connector would have broken on the phone from the pressure

I reckon its a miniusb connector issue on the 8300 as the same cable works on my wifes Pearl every single time without fail

If you want to try it, have a look at my FANTASTIC illustration!!

Anyway, I have had enough of it and I am going to go back to O2 and get it sorted either under warranty or get a replacement as its just so frustrating and totally leaves me that I can never backup my Blackberry without fear of breaking it!!

i would strongly recommend AGAINST putting any sort of pressure on the connector near the blackberry, if it breaks you are SOL pretty much
