Hi - I installed Mobipocket on my BB Curve and the only books I can download from my Fictionwise bookshelf are the secure Mobipocket books. It won't list the other unsecured Mobipocket books so I can download them. I tried using the browser to download the books, but when they come down and I try to access them, my BB says they are in an "unrecognizable" format.

Any ideas?

did u install the 6.0 beta or the 5.2 version?

If you can (legally) provide a link to one of the unsecured downloads giving you the format error, I'll take a look and see what's under the hood, what kind of file it is.

(can't offer help on the others, I don't use Fictionwise and/or download, I drag & drop the books onto my SD card)

I have a different problem with Mobipocket. I can only install my ebooks on the device, not the card. When I try to install on the card, mobipocket does not find them on the curve. what am I doing wrong?

Did you install the newest Beta for Blackberry? 6.0 Beta 054 or something like that?

That works great with all kinds of unsecured books and RSS links. All are installed on the Micro-SD Card.

Don't let the Mobipocket Desktop Software fool you to install "a newer version" to your BB - this installs an old 5.x version which seems not to work properly on the new devices.

Thanks for all the help! I version I have is the new beta version. I didn't think I had an option to install another version. Anyway, I think I may need to download the unsecured books to my laptop and then drop and drop to my SD card.

If you put ebooks on your memory card, be sure and put them in a folder called ebooks. I've noticed it doesn't find the books on the card sometimes if they're not in that folder.

I noticed that when i used mobipocket on my bb, i could not HIGHLIGHT anything in the book. Am i missing something? Thx for the help.

Heya folks. If anyone is able to forward along a copy of the beta please let me know. The MB site has been down for a couple of days and I'm going nuts not being able to read on my new 8830!

I found a link on this forum for the Beta 6 version of Mobipocket. When you go to the link it says 5.2.2 or something like that but it is actually 6. However, when I installed it on my PC and tried to install it on my blackberry it will not install. It says I need to install it manually. Does anyone know how to do this?

Same problem with me, it doesn't recognize the device.
Is it because their website is down or it's something that we don't get it?

Scary eh? Is all well in Mobipocket land? I mean c'mon - a company's web site should never say that on it's front page!

I use Fictionwise.com to purchase my e-books. I still have a problem downloading books. BUT, the Fictionwise site states the following:

NOTICE: A major problem occurred with the Mobipocket DRM server at about 6:30 PM Eastern Time, Wednesday, August 15. Engineers at Mobipocket.com have informed us that they hope to be back online sometime this week, August 23 or 24. We have switched, where possible, all Secure Mobipocket files purchased during the downtime to an alternative DRM provider, Content Reserve. We have also taken all titles that could not be switched offline in Mobipocket format until the problem is resolved.


Like bthooper said - real scary!
