I am using the AT&T holster from chinesecat and the rubber is completely gone from my 8300. One guy on here last week got his replaced by AT&T for this problem.

Yes, the Seido is a disaster. Very disappointed and a marred Black Berry to boot. They shouldn't be allowed to sell this product through the website.

No problem with my modified Seido unskinned holster. First thing I did was to strip off the little piece of rubber off the clip that holds the Curve into the holster. Fits and holds much better without it and leaves no marks on the Curve that the rubber would have. Sorry, it doesn't help those that have peeling rubber already

Thanks for the tip. Maybe I am old fashioned, but in my mind you take an item like this off the market rather then expecting your customers to "modify" it in order to make it usable. Anyone want to bet they don't take this disaster off the market? Its all about the holy dollar.

quite honestly i dont think you could make a holster that holds the curve in securely without having this happen. the rubber coating on the curve is very soft and easily scratches off. i am thrilled with it? - no - but no big deal either. phones get scratched up. fact of life.

I never like those snap on holsters. I'm always afraid of marring and/or the phone falling out of the holster and smashing into pieces on the ground.

Give me a nice leather pouch anyday.

mine did that too, using the RIM case.. odd considering the top had no contact where it was peeling. My solution, scratched it all off! The sides, Where it should be peeling, are fine... guessing a QA mishap. No issue though, the rubber will do it everywhere eventually...

You are blaming the WRONG people. The problem is not RIM it is the 3rd party holster YOU elected to use!

^^ Yeah it is. I had the same issues with my seidio 8703 clip. It scratched the crap out of the top of the BB. Not to mention the clip got so loose it just spun on my belt... Seidio: great for batteries, clips? Not so great.

Actually I think it is RIM's fault. I use the leather pouch. I am noticing the rubber coating along the top of the phone is peeling. I think the top of the phone rubs in my pocket. Underneath is a black shiny cover so it doesn't really matter if the rubber peels away.

Mine is in my pocket (in/out all day) and other places like golf bag, etc... with no skin or holster. I have no peeling whatsoever. I have to believe this is related to the holster/skin.

I've had a curve practically since AT&T started carrying them. I've had it first in an 8800 OEM leather case and then in the Curve OEM leather case ever since - except for the times it rides loose in my pocket. Still looks like new - no scratches, marks, peeling.

I'm starting to think that perhaps some of these had problems in the factor so that the finish isn't adhering as well as it should.

Also sounds like the Seidio clip rubs the top too much. If my first guess is right, then it would make sense for those with manufacturing problems to start peeling first from the clip.

Curious: anyone using the clip for any length of time NOT seeing scratching and peeling?
