Is there a way to download the entire Global Address List (GAL) from MS Exchange to the Blackberry device?

(I am assuming that you are on a BES)

You can do this simply by putting them all on your contacts within outlook.

That being said I, if you are on a BES you could try the 'Look up' feature on the handheld. This will search the entry from your GAL.

If you have more than 50-70 people on your GAL the latter is definately a better option (IMHO) than getting the entire GAL downloaded onto your handset. Just think of how long it will take you to find someone on your handset's contacts if you d/l them all.
I have only added those people that I consistenantly communicate with and have a need for thier info and thats only 160 contacts within my company, plus my personal contacts... its a bit crazy.
I also set my address book to sort by company to make it a bit easier, but still.

Good luck!

Thanks, there are only 40 people in the company so it shouldn't be too bad.

Yes, I showed the user the auto lookup feature, which works wonderfully! But they want the name, number etc... Unless the lookup will also display the phone number?

This question crops up now and again. There are two main reasons for not being able to simply download the whole address book to a BlackBerry:

1. Security
2. People come and go, and you would soon have an out of date address book. Using the GAL ensures everything is fresh and up to date (on the basis ou don't have a lazy admin)!
